Travis has been out of town all week for work...leaving me on my own with the girls. I was nervous about how it would go, but honestly it's gone pretty smoothly. I've also had some help from my in-laws which has made it a little easier.
I feel like I keep saying it...but Avery is at the perfect age to be a big sister. She loves helping me with Kendall, and is great at sitting with her when I need to get something done for a few minutes. She loves giving her hugs and trying to hold her, and she's amazingly calm when Kendall cries. She just gets the pacifier and gives it to her without missing a beat. She understands when I need to feed Kendall or hold her, and is surprisingly patient. One I put Kendall down for naps, she asks to play and I try to give her my full attention for at least half of naptime. During the other half of naptime I'm normally eating or doing housework haha. I also love that they are less than three years apart, so they are close enough in age to be friends as they get older.
Kendall is also getting better at figuring out days and nights. She had been struggling with a "fussy" period in the middle of the night that would sometimes last 2-2.5 hours, but the last few nights have been so much better. She's getting one longer 5-6 hour stretch of sleep - normally eating around 8 pm or so, and then sleeping until 2 am. Then she's waking at about 4:30 and 7 or so and mostly eating every 2.5 hours during the day...sometimes longer stretches in the morning hours and shorter in the evening hours. I'm still breastfeeding her and it's going so well! This is the week that Avery started showing blood in her stool (from 6-14 weeks until I switched to formula.) Kendall hasn't shown any symptoms of any intolerances to my milk, so I'm hopeful I'll be able to nurse her much longer.
All in all we've adjusted so well to having Kendall and I can't believe she's almost 7 weeks old!!
